Hoover F6215-900 SteamVac Agility Carpet Cleaner
For deep carpet cleaning that's as easy as vacuuming, this lightweight, maneuverable unit comes with an array of convenient features. The cleaner gets under furniture and in hard-to-reach areas with its low-profile hood, which is transparent and removable for easy clean up. At the push of a switch, the Clean Surge feature provides heavy-duty cleaning for the worst type of dirt, like high-traffic areas and pet stains, while removable side-by-side tanks are easy to fill, and dirty water and clean water always remain separate. The cleaning solution and carpet are heated by forced air to assist in the cleaning process, to aid in drying, and to save time. Five exclusive SpinScrub brushes, which pop out for easy cleaning, work together, touching carpet fibers on all sides to gently loosen dirt. The cleaner comes with a removable tool caddy with powered hand tools, including a hand tool with SpinScrub brushes, which is ideal for carpeted stairs and upholstery. Due to its convenient folding handle, the unit comes fully assembled and is ready to use once detergent and water have been added. The cleaner measures approximately 13 by 23 by 30 inches and carries a one-year warranty.

Great and Compact / Report June 28, 2006
It cleans really well. You just have to make sure that your water is really hot. I love the compact design and the different colors that they come in. The only down side is that I had to refill the solution tank half way threw my cleaning. But that may be because I use the surge cleaning a lot and I think it uses more water.

Very pleased, and fun! / Report June 23, 2006
I first saw this machine being demonstrated on one of the home shopping channels, but I turned to Amazon and there were lots of reviews, almost all were positive, so I bought one. I tried it on an area rug with is about 6 x 10. It worked very well, just in this area, I think I used half the solution tank and the recovery tank looked half full also or close to it. The detergent that comes with the machine is only 16oz, and it looks like you have to use lots of it, 2 caps for each time you fill it up. Other reviewers called it light, I am not sure about that, it had some weight, I have not done stairways yet, but it might be on the heavy side to drag up/down stairs. I bought more detergent, I would recommend that, the 16oz wont go to far. The carpet looked great, and dried in 3 hrs. I vacuumed it again, and it did pull up some stuff, very fluffy and nice on the feet. Good machine and worth the money.

Difficult to use because of weight / Report June 22, 2006
This carpet cleaner works okay and seems to get up most of the dirt. My main complaint though is that it is extremely heavy, especially on stairs. I just finished doing the stairs going to the second floor and I am exhausted from trying to manuever this product. I have owned several rug cleaners in the past and none have been this difficult to work with or this heavy. Agility is a poor choice of word to have in the name.

Its Almost Paid for Itself / Report May 16, 2006
I bought this back in January 2006, and I've used it three times now. I absolutely love it. I got tired of toting one of those big, heavy commercial rental machines to and from the hardware store, and I couldn't stand to use one of those other machines the grocery stores rent as after hours of use, my arms and hands continued to vibrate as if I'd been using a jack hammer all day. We have two Aussie/Lab dogs, so 8 muddy (i.e. GA red clay) feet bounding across the carpets after a rain would give cause for frequent rug shampoos, plus one of the dogs throws up at least once a week when someone isn't home to immediately clean up. We also have very light/almost white carpet that "came with the house," so it was getting to be such an ordeal to go get a machine just for more spot rather than whole house cleaning. The rugs would stay dirty for months until I would have the time or could work up the energy to go through the process of retrieving a machine and lifting the heavy thing in and out of the car. I also couldn't afford to have the rugs professionally cleaned as often as they would need it.

This machine has cleaned up all of the dirt, pet stains, etc. with no problem. The first time I used it, I did not pre-treat the red dirt/clay areas, and the machine lifted them out just fine; however, I probably had to pass over those spots a couple or a few times to get all of the dirt out. The carpets looked fantastic when I was done! The second time I used it, I did pre-treat the red dirt areas, and again, the areas came clean as a whistle, but I did not have to pass over the same area more than once. I would suggest pre-treating areas that seem to be heavily soiled so that you don't waste your time or use more cleaning solution than really needed.

Today, I used it primarily for the areas where the dog has gotten sick (I pre-treated these spots with pet enzyme solution), and there was also red dirt, which I did not pre-treat, in the heavy traffic areas. Once again, everything came out spic and span. The carpet looks great, and the room smells good and fresh, too. My husband, the neat freak, even commented on how great it looked (he also commented in the negative when I first got the machine thinking we didn't need it.)

So far after these three uses, I have not experienced any problems and cannot really complain seriously about anything. While the solution tank needs to be refilled often as it is not very large, it is fairly easy to remove and replace. I have not had any problems with tanks leaking or dripping that hasn't been caused by me overfilling the solution tank. As long as the tank is filled only to the indicated line and not above, I haven't experienced any leakage problems. Also, the extraction suction on the machine is very good; I've noticed the grains of dirt at times that have settled in the bottom of the recovery tank that the vacuum cleaner didn't even pick up before cleaning. Drying time is about like any other machine; 6-8 hours ought to have the rugs dry or at least mostly dry--the machine doesn't seem to overwet the carpet unless going over the same area multiple times which you don't need to do.

It is not a steam cleaner as the water is only as hot as your tap water; however, this has been quite sufficient. I just make sure that the water is nice and hot when I fill the solution tank. Also, this is not a heavy machine even when loaded down with the water. I have no aches or pains in the back or arms after I'm done cleaning several rooms.

The machine itself is very easy to disassemble for cleaning--there really isn't that much to remove to clean. I think as long as all of the parts are rinsed very well and brushes are rinsed and any hair, fibers, etc. are removed, there shouldn't be any problems for the next use. Don't forget to clear the line of any solution that may have remained in the line when you finished your task.

I was looking at one of the more expensive Hoover models, but after comparing reviews here of this model and the more expensive one, I decided to save a few dollars and try this one. I'm very glad I did, as I have been tickled pink with this one, and I don't think the other model could have added any more useful features for the extra money. This machine has been well worth the money, and I expect by the end of this year, it will have already paid for itself. I have not tried using it on the steps yet, but an attachment brush is included for this purpose. I don't know that it would be easy to use up our steps, but I also have the Hoover Steam Vac Jr. (also not a steam cleaner) which I could also use for the steps, and it works well for a smaller, more portable cleaner than this one.

I can highly recommend this cleaner, and it is well worth it if you need to clean rugs frequently like I do. It's so easy to use from start to finish, and I think you will be very pleased with the results. If you have kids or animals, this machine is for you. It's very convenient to have your own machine in your own home. My rugs stay far cleaner now than they used to.
